New lessons about BIG feelings
Emotions are a big part of daily life. As parents and teachers guide kids in their development, emotional health is equally as important as physical health. Building emotional fortitude is an important foundation for self-regulation, problem-solving, and maintaining relationships.
Khan Academy Kids has created new lessons for fall 2024 to kelp kids learn about big feelings like happiness, sadness, and everything in between. The new lessons are designed for PreK through 2nd grade.
PreK and kindergarteners will learn lessons about being mad, bored, silly, happy, and sad. First and second-graders will learn lessons about being frustrated, disappointed, nervous, excited, proud, scared, and more.
Nervous, excited, or both?
Cute human characters from Khan Academy Kids storybooks star in the new lessons. Russ feeling nervous on the way to a camping trip. But scary thoughts give way to bright daydreams as he anticipates the wonders of the night sky. And when Lavender rides a unicorn, she bravely bounces high. When we understand our feelings, we have the power to turn fear into excitement!
Bored and silly
Lavender’s boredom on a rainy day transforms into silly play when her dad becomes an imaginary unicorn. She quickly casts a wizard spell to make him fly. Boredom, be gone! Creativity can be key in turning any situation around, especially when kids learn to name their feelings.
