Understanding Disordered Eating in Youth

In this Voices of Compassion podcast, we talk about eating disorders with Michael Manzano, MS, Doctoral Intern in Clinical Psychology at Children’s Health Council (CHC) and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Join us as we navigate this sensitive yet crucial topic, offering valuable insights and practical advice for promoting well-being and preventing disordered eating in children.

We begin by talking about the behaviors you might see with disordered eating, from picky eating to extreme dieting, to binging and purging. We also discuss preventive measures that include fostering a positive relationship with food and body and early identification.

And, spoiler alert! One of the most important things you can do as a parent/caregiver is to model what you want to see in your child by promoting a healthy, neutral (not positive or negative) body image.
